Top 10 Reasons

About 50 years ago Charles Allen, director of the School of Journalism at Oklahoma State University, compiled a list of reasons for publishing public notices in newspapers.

The list is outdated in some ways, but in others it is ‘spot on’ for best practices in publishing legal notices in any mass communication platform.

Here is a re-imagined list as Allen might note today: (1) regularly published; (2) permanent — a form that is stable; (3) provides automatic proof of publication; (4) high traffic — visits or views; (5) reader/visitor confidence; (6) community representative; (7) archived for retrieval; (8) reviewed/edited by others than the parties effected or affecting the notice; (9) timely; (10) intelligent.
